TYPES OF FENCES

The majority of fence types are included in the British Standard 1722 of which a copy can usually be found at any local library.
However, the more common types of fence to be found in domestic sites are:

Interwoven

part 11 of BS 1722

Cleft chestnut

part 4 of BS 1722

Chain link

part 1 of BS 1722

Close boarded and wooden palisade

part 5 of BS 1722

Because British Standard 1722:Fences is the quality standard, you should ask that your fence is to be quoted on this specification.
If a fence is not covered by BS1722, call upon the installer to quote to the spirit of the standard especially if timber is used which must be pressure impregnated against decay and for long life. Fences over 1.2m [four foot] in height should have posts set in concrete.

If the fence you need is not to BS1722, send us a description and we will give you a 'tight' specification that will maximise its life and general presentation.
